Road Material Case Up Again At Courthouse
Excessive purchases of road material by Athens County in late 1936 resurfaced at the Courthouse this morning as Walter Garrison and county commissioners discussed who must pay the bills. Garrison said two commissioners could authorize purchases under $1,000, while over that amount a 20 day wait was required. the three-vote agreement would allow immediate action. Commissioner Frank Minner contends he was not consulted during the earlier purchases and did not approve them. Records show orders were signed before the 20 day period elapsed and some exceeded $1,000.
