Sans Souci Spring Formal Gala At Armory

Sans Souci hosted a spring formal Friday at the Armory with about one hundred attendees from active members alumnae and guests from C. M. C. s and Beatas other groups. Carol Ruston presided the grand march alongside Allan Farley as chaperones included Dana Connett James Ruston Carl Fuller and BE A Guthrie with O. G. Jordan of Columbus a former Athens resident in attendance.

Weekend Guests Entertain at Dinner in Richmonddale

Mrs. Osa Slagle hosted dinner with Mrs. E B Hatfield and the Swartz family plus Everett Garnet and Kenneth, in Richmonddale. Other visitors included Mr and Mrs Hollis Williams Barberton and D H Coley with Stanley Francis. Mrs Hatfield and Mrs Swartz returned home today.

Elizabeth Kern to Attend Columbus Commencement

Mrs. Elizabeth Kern will travel to Columbus on Thursday to attend the Ohio State University commencement next Monday. Her nephew Kern Sosey, aged 21 and eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Sosey, will graduate with the highest honors of his class.

Women Missionary Society meets on topics of service

The Women’s Foreign Missionary Society of the First Methodist Church held Friday meeting at the church with Mrs. W A Matheny presiding. Devotions by Mrs. Coulter centered on Workers With God followed by reports, teas and bake sale plans, and talks on World Fellowship. Denies His Guilt In Third Offense Liquor Charge

John Stauffer pleaded not guilty to a third offense liquor possession charge before Magistrate C H Porter and was held on a 1200 dollar bond. A preliminary hearing was set for Wednesday. Athens County Prosecutor John W Bolin filed the affidavit. Stauffer, residing near East Bridge Athens, was arrested last week by Constable Frank White and had pleaded not guilty on arraignment to a possession charge.

Planes Grazed In Midair Crash Killing Two

Two planes collided in midair near Lansing Michigan on Sunday. Pilot Ford Bott died with passenger Miss Elsie Breitenbach 18. Bott reportedly lost control after a near miss with Carl Schopp Sr who was piloting the other plane. Breitenbach's sister Irma 15 was aboard Schopp's craft.
