Athena Cinema marks 100 years on Court Street
The Majestic Theatre opened in 1915 as one of the earliest motion picture venues in Athens and became Athena Cinema in 1935. OU purchased it in 2001. An open house celebrated the centennial with champagne and cake, followed by a special Concert under the Elms and a screening of Mary Pickford’s Cinderella with live accompaniment.

Man arraigned in cattle theft indictment across three states
Lucasville 28 year old Brandon White was arraigned after a Hocking County grand jury indicted him on a cattle scheme involving falsified documents and checks to steal more than 30000 in livestock and vehicles from farmers in Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky. He used aliases and operated as B S Trucking and Livestock LLC and Brandons Cattle Company. The case is handled by the Economic Crimes Unit of the Ohio Attorney General.
