Veterans and descendants to hold a memorial service at United Brethren church Putnam chapel in Vinton county next Sunday afternoon June 12. A city trip departs about 11 39 oclock with drum corps and music including a women’s corps of veterans granddaughters. Speaker Rev Vo Ablbrand and War poet Molbe Rob anson of Hollister to recite works. Cemetery decor planned for graves of Civil War veterans nearby.

Miss Florence Brewer entertains Christian Endeavor at Chauncey home
Florence and Alice Brewer formerly of Chauncey hosted the Christian Endeavor society of the First Christians church in Athens at 221 West Union Street Friday evening. Music and games provided entertainment and a luncheon of strawberry shortcake, cake, wafers, and orangeade was served. Twenty two members attended.
