Athens Hospital Trustees Fight Barth Dam Purchase
Athens citizens urge trustees of the Athens state hospital to reallocate 7500 dollars from a 24500 dollar fund to purchase and remove the Barth dam to abate the sewage nuisance. Public health officials had pressed for the dam's removal to curb sewage discharge into the Hocking river near Athens.

Rev W T Cherrington of the Methodist church performed the ceremony. Relatives attended as dainty refreshments were served and the couple will reside at 88 East State street.

New Steward Named for Athens State Hospital
At the Athens state hospital board meeting in Columbus, Steward F. C. Rochester's resignation was accepted and Kirk Kennedy of Clermont was chosen as his successor. Kennedy, a seven year veteran clerk at the Deaf and Dumb asylum, is praised for financial acumen and purchasing experience. He will move in within a week to ten days and Rochester will remain on briefly to guide the transition.

Death of Otto Rosser at 41
Otto Rosser died Sunday at his home near Central Avenue from heart disease complications. He was 41 and survived by five wives and two children. The remains were taken to Melenville for funeral services and interment on Tuesday.

The marriage of Mr. Robert L. Woodworth and Miss Maude Lillian Mourne occurred yesterday morning at their home on State Street. Rev W D Cherrington officiated with only close relatives present. A wedding breakfast followed and out of town guests included J E Mourne of Chillicothe, M J Carter of Nelsonville, Estella Woodworth of Millfield, and Gertrude Wilson of Columbus. The couple, with Woodworth a city agent for Adams Express and Maude Mourne a local insurance representative, plan to reside on State Street after June 30. They departed by the 12 55 B and C train for St Louis and western points.

Sudden Death of Mrs Dan W Henke on Lancaster Street
Mrs Hattie E Henke 29 wife of contractor Daniel W Henke died Friday at her Lancaster Street home from heart trouble believed to be triggered by long standing tonsillitis and other complications. She leaves a 9 year old child. Due to scarlet fever in the home, the body was taken to Hiram Thompson’s residence for funeral services held Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. G W King with interment in the new cemetery.

Telephone Company Extends Its Lines in Coolville
The Home Telephony company held a called session in Coolville and adopted a revised constitution and by laws. It reports capital stock at five thousand dollars all sold, with about 100 miles of line between Pomerot and Parkersburg and multiple termini. Talks of increasing capital to ten thousand and a new charter. conservatives prefer maintaining five thousand. If run on business principles the company should be a safe investment.

Storm King Wrath Hits Athens With Tornado and Hail
A severe storm struck Athens on Tuesday afternoon causing extensive property damage. Torrential rain and hail shattered windows, ripped roofs, and toppled to the ground a two story house near Cemetery Street. Lightning hit a barn near Stewart destroying it and its contents. No lives were lost, but property damage runs into hundreds of dollars.

Death of Susan Selby at Columbus State Hospital
Susan Selby died Saturday at Columbus State Hospital where she sought treatment for organic brain trouble. The 48 year old Athens resident leaves five children. Funeral services were held Monday at her Dean Avenue home with Rev. Cyrus Rose officiating. interment followed in the new cemetery.
