City of Athens seeks dismissal of lawsuit
The City of Athens asks a judge to dismiss the remaining counts in a lawsuit by Sean Jones after a partial ruling on a writ of mandamus. Judge L Alan Goldsberry, who had retired, was assigned to continue the case and previously denied the mandamus. Jones seeks compensation for land taken to replace a damaged storm sewer, while remaining counts allege constitutional rights violations. Jones’s attorney opposes the motion, arguing the other claims require different proof and more evidence.
