Undertaker Nelsonville moved to Gallipolis Hospital

An undertaker Orin McLaughlin, long confined to his monument at Wales Mills, was transferred Friday to Holzer Gallipolis due to a serious infection. A report from friends says his condition this morning is very serious. A local service featured piano solos and vocal pieces by several performers including Mrs. Devore and Miss Frances Parry. The social hour included refreshments.

Bible School Opens in Floodwood Building This Summer

In Nelsonville on June 4 the Daily Vacation Bible School will open Monday at 9 o'clock using the regular school building. Miss Kathryn Harms is principal with Marty Jo and Jack Haffner as assistants. Irene McDowell will supervise the district’s program from Deanville. The M M Class at the Methodist Sunday School met with Miss Howe on Elizabeth Street. Miss Margaret Howe attended as guest and the program featured readings and a Mother’s Day talk by Mary Adeline Wilson followed by games and refreshments.

Small Boy Injured in Starr Township Auto Crash

Glenn Bateman seven year old son of Mr and Mrs Charles Bateman Starr Township sustained head and throat cuts when his father's car collided with another near their home on the R R Stalter farm Friday afternoon. The windshield shattered injuring him. The accident was reported as unavoidable.

Plead Not Guilty Quartet Charged With Burglary

Four men Fred Hashman Gerald Hashman Cecil Smith and Prest Bently were arraigned before Magistrate C H Porter and entered not guilty pleas to burglary charges for a Tuesday night burglary at Fred Shater s store in Millfield. Bail set at 1000 each. Preliminary hearings for Bent In and the Hashman brothers scheduled for June 7 and Smith on June 8.
