Soldier's Wife Mary Gibson Dies After Brief Illness
Mrs. Mary Jane Gibson of Gallipolis died in Portsmouth General Hospital after a two day illness. She traveled to be with relatives of her husband Walter Gibson over Memorial Day. Her diabetes, chronic for years, contributed to her decline. The funeral home will hold the body until arrangements are made. Her husband, in the Army, recently arrived in New Guinea. Red Cross efforts to notify him may postpone rites. She previously lived with her husband’s parents on Chillicothe Street.
