Developmental disabilities board moves to hire full time secretary
Athens County Board of Developmental Disabilities held a heated meeting Tuesday over elevating the executive secretary post from part time to full time as longtime secretary Sally Biancone retires. Acting Superintendent Dr. Maryalice Turner urged for a full-time assistant, saying she cannot juggle two jobs and a half-time secretary. She cited missed coverage, unpaid bills, Medicaid checks, and staff overload, while some directors urged restraint or two part-time positions. The board approved the motion 4-1, with two members absent, leaving questions on job description and salary unresolved.
