City Water Rate Rise Tied to Million Dollar Expansion Plan
Mayor Raymond Shepard urges a water rate increase to secure a 1 million loan for the citys share of a 2 million water expansion. The loan would be repaid over 20 or 30 years, funded in part by a federal grant and possibly 70 000 to 80 000 annually in water revenues. The rate proposal from Engineering Associates of Wooster and Athens seeks broader spread of increases, with bids for the second phase of the project set for August 3.
