Wandering steer causes city chase in Athens
Two Athens police officers tried to corral a 600 pound white faced steer wandering Tuesday morning. Sightings included a lot near Jaynes Furniture and the Ohio University Airport before the animal was driven onto a hill behind the Children’s Home. The steer belonged to Dr. W. W. Patton and escaped Monday night.

358 Enrolled In Second Recreation Swim Program
A total of 358 children and adults are enrolled in the second six weeks of the city recreation swimming program starting this week. The overall enrollment reaches 739 across both sessions, with 381 in the first six weeks. A 21 year old Ohio University student from Akron pleaded guilty in Municipal Court to stealing golf clubs and an English textbook from a car on Mound Street valued at 260 dollars.
