New Social Security Bill Not Yet Saw
The Social Security bill sent to the U S Senate is not yet law says Social Security representative Robert P. King. Provisions for early benefits at ages 62 and 50 for disabled workers may not take effect until a nine thousand three hundred construction project in Newark is completed. King notes gas pipeline work in Athens and surrounding areas by Ohio Fuel and the upcoming plan involves new six inch and large lines. Construction will cause brief service interruptions with advance notices and traffic detours as crews lay lines along Congress Street and nearby intersections.

Two Roads Are Dedicated To Townships
County commissioners dedicated two roads to townships Dover and Athens and settled a 1998 debt of 40.82 dollars at a special meeting. Roads 421 in Dover Township and Clearview Drive in Athens Township were turned over to trustees for road systems. The 18 year old debt arose after Coolville Bank failed and a 112 dollar dog tag payment by A B White was charged to the bank, with Edmundson then the Soldier's Relief secretary. The hearing held that the money should be recovered from Edmundson, but the county ultimately moved funds between accounts to cover the discrepancy.
