Florida DC-3 crash kills twenty one
Twenty one people died when a DC-3 chartered airliner crashed in swamp near Melbourne Florida. The flight from Newark to Miami carried 36 souls and 31 Puerto Ricans many of whom spoke Spanish. Injured numbered 13 with two in critical condition. Pilot Capt Henry Hein 36 of Houston and co pilot Roderick Paul MacKinnon and crew member wife were among the dead. Rescue teams found survivors amid wreckage and water. One boy Jose Rodriguez 3 survived with his mother Pura Rodriguez badly hurt.

William L. Kaiser, former capitol policeman, was ordered by Municipal Judge Allen K. Raedy to undergo a mental examination at Gallinger Hospital. Kaiser faces two charges, assault with intent to kill and carrying a deadly weapon, after firing two shots in the Senate subway at Ohio Senator Bricker. The hearing is set for August 14 and Kaiser is held without bond. Bricker did not attend the hearing.

Man and wife burned in speedboat blast near Lorain
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schabbing of Lorain Ohio were injured yesterday in an explosion and fire aboard a 26 foot speedboat. L D Lee rescued the couple about 200 yards off shore.
