Bud Stewart was transferred from Meigs General Hospital to his home on Story's Run after treatment for a broken arm. Miss Wilma Herrmann was taken to Holzer Hospital for treatment following injuries from a recent automobile accident.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Vaughan were dinner guests of George C. Shaw, president of the Ohio Monument Association, in Logan. A follow up business session discussed late designs in shape carving and proportioned lettering.
Sol Johnson of Kerr's Run pleaded innocent to shooting with intent to kill and guilty to assault and battery at arraignment before Mayor Sidney Spencer. He faced a $1000 bond on the shooting charge and $250 on the assault charge after allegedly firing at relatives and striking a daughter during a Saturday morning incident at his home. The shooting targeted his brother in law Robert Brown and also struck Sol Johnson Jr and Clarence Johnson, ages 10 and 23, with further blows reported to Bertha Mae Johnson.
A party hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Louis Melcher on Mechanic Street honored Mrs. Edna Thomas and her son Bobby Boice of Los Angeles. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ewing and Bennie, Mr. and Mrs. William Myers, Mrs. Miles Turner of Portsmouth, J. Miles Turner of St. Louis, Ted Reed and Betsy Ebersbach.
Mrs. Oscar Meyers returns from vacation with relatives in Washington and Norfolk. Tipton Iowa guests include Paul Reuter and Mina Kroger with Clarence Reuter from Columbus and Ray Reuter with Tommie. Cincinnati resident James Clark visits Syracuse relatives including Mrs. Clark and three children. Local families hosting include the Rose, Burnside, and Webster households with multiple extended relatives.
POMEROY Rocksprings Grange met last Thursday evening at the Grange Hall on the fairgrounds Laurel Grange presented a program Rocksprings Grange sponsored an orange chiffon cake contest with winners Mrs Hazel Humphrey first Mrs Ethel Grueser second and Mrs Marcella Snowden third Cakes and ice cream were served for refreshments.

Maxine Siders daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Siders Rutland will attend the central regional FHA meeting in Columbus July 12 to 14. She is a Western Local High School student enrolled in home economics and has led the Rutland FHA as president. She recently became Ohio FHA public relations chairman and will help edit state newsletters. Also attending is Miss Freda Wood the Rutland FHA adviser. Ruth and Mary Bradford Racine members of the Racine FHA chapter are delegates from the South III District of Ohio.
The Zanesville District quarterly conference of the Free Methodist Church will meet at Laurel Cliff Free Methodist Church starting Thursday at 7 30 p m with services daily. Twenty one ministers and their families and district laymen will attend. Superintendent R B Maxwell will direct the services per Rev Leroy Hiett the Laurel Cliff pastor.

Pomeroy Chief Walter Wolfe marked the quiet Fourth with the birth of his first grandchild. His son Robert, a Columbus drug store manager, reported a son born at White Cross Hospital. Grandparents are the Wolfes of Pomeroy and the Parkers of Columbus. Alonzo Parker of Minersville is the great grandfather.
Meigs County residents can hear WLW broadcast Thursday night 7 18 to 7 45 featuring a story with theme by P S Hostetter of Tuppers Plains. The writer, former Middleport Review circulation manager and Cole Lumber Co employee, helped revise and verify the tale about Plains Seminary founded 1860 and its decline linking to the genesis of the local high school at Tuppers Plains.
Word arrived in Pomeroy of the death of Dana Eiselstein in St. Cloud Florida on Wednesday night after a heart attack. Born in Chester he moved to St. Cloud years ago and was an undertaker there. Several Meigs County relatives survive him.
Mr and Mrs Carroll Norris announce the birth of a daughter Brenda Kay July 2 at Meigs General Hospital. The baby has a sister Clarice Jean. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Ross Norris Mr and Mrs John L Wolfe and Mr and Mrs Philson Norrie. Mr Norris is a bookkeeper.
