President Roosevelt announced that the United States would not enter into a currency stabilization agreement as outlined in the current proposal. He indicated no formal agreement had been made in London and will continue his travel plans to Annapolis before returning to Washington.
A U S Weather Bureau forecast warned for showers and thunderstorms tonight with cooler northward relief. In Ohio, including Cincinnati and Hamilton, temperatures reached near 90s as a storm system caused damage and 11 drownings were reported in the last 24 hours across several towns. Names Whalen Ross and Douglass Rutledge appear among the victims, with others listed in the report.
United Press reports that four partners in the Kuhn, Loeb and Company partnership share 58 percent of the bank profits. J. O. is noted to hold a 25 percent cut, with the rest allocated among other partners, highlighting control within the international bank.

The Italian squadron of 24 planes en route from Orbetello to Chicago will begin the second stage of its flight Sunday with Londonderry Ireland as the next stop General Italo Balbo announced. The group completed the first stage landing on the Dutch coast with one plane lost in a crash the seaplane Udini capsized and sank with one man missing.
Colonel Roscoe Turner, record holder for east west transcontinental flight, lands in Los Angeles and appears to win the Bendix speed race at the National Air Races. His time for the 2633 mile hop is 11 hours 40 minutes, beating his previous 12 hours 35 minutes.
Justice Howard L. Bevis of the Ohio Supreme Court will appear before Judge John C. Felton in Grove City next Thursday night to answer a speeding charge. Bevis, former finance director in Governor White's cabinet, was cited by officer Carl Gerhardt for driving 48 mph on the village road while en route home to Cincinnati.
Lee Turner of East St Louis is held in Chicago on a Dyer Act violation. Federal officials say no new Lindbergh case development. Turner was once sought as a Lindbergh kidnapping suspect but now faces federal charges.

In Columbus on July 1 the House tabled the LeFever Resolution to adopt The Gateway of the West as Ohio’s official motto. After killing the measure a facetious bid was floated to revive it with the motto Gateway to the Wets.

Ohio Relief Commission orders a statewide seven percent cut in families aided, as employment improves. July budgets are trimmed to 15 days pending federal funds and possible state revenue measures. Counties listed include Athens, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs and Perry with specific allocations.

In Akron eight year old Charles Csonka is in critical condition after an accidental self inflicted gunshot wound near the heart found with his father’s pistol while napping.
Albert Russel Erskine, former railroad clerk turned Studebaker president, died in South Bend after shooting himself during the firm’s receivership crisis. He rose from modest beginnings to lead the company before this act.
In Allledonia Ohio on July 1 a 15 year old boy Virgil Banfield was crushed and killed after a blind horse used to cut hay stumbled and fell. The accident occurred on a local farm and authorities investigated the scene.

Columbus July 1 The State Liquor Centre Commission has no authority to require holders of retail beer permits to buy beer only from brewers or distributors. Attorney General W Bricker ruled the commission cannot prevent grocers with Class C permits from delivering beer, as denying this privilege to others would be unreasonable and arbitrary.
In Zanesville on July 1 two Columbus youths Willis Roll age 17 and Dwight Jennings age 17 were killed when an overhead railroad crossing struck them while riding atop a moving van. Philip Ryan age 16 escaped injury by flattening himself on the van top.
Ohio's Ninetieth General Assembly faced a late night session to approve a $30 million school and unemployment relief revenue package, an $81 million biennial appropriation, and several tax measures. Oneonta New York July 14 James Webb 15 son of Mayor Isaac Webb Gilbertville confessed to police that he killed his ailing mother Mrs Webb 36 with an axe. He said he chose the crime after obtaining an axe from the woodshed and striking her in her room. He is being held on an open charge pending further investigation.
Two men Bert Humphrey and Edward Proctor were the first in Ohio convicted for failure to work for city relief. Each received under three months in the workhouse after juries in probate court found they failed to support minor children. City safety director John Yeend led the relief charge.

Shadbolt 53 a Spanish American and World War veteran will undergo a sanity test after he shot and killed Col Vernon Roberts 58 chief surgeon at Soldiers Home Hospital Thursday night Shadbolt had pleaded guilty and said he needed to get some high official to get some hell out of his system He previously served time for killing a Negro at Norfolk and was pardoned
