Old rock and roll stars ignite a Grateful crowd at Ono Center
A Friday Ono University convocation show blended 1950s music with a haze of marijuana as Gary U. S. Bonds, the Dovells, the Shirelles, and Chuck Berry performed for about a quarter of a full gym audience. Berry delivered a 45 minute sock, running through Nadine, Sweet Little Sixteen, Roll Over Beethoven, Memphis, and Reelin and Rocking with electric flair. The night mixed nostalgia with a potent party atmosphere as guards from Columbus policed the event and audience dress echoed hipster styles of the era.
