Residence Burns Across Meigs County In Curtailed Fires
Fires at three Albany area sites destroyed a two story home and a chicken coop, killing 50 chickens and leaving one resident with minor burns. Firefighters reported the Jerry Searles home was gutted by flames originating from a chimney flue as residents slept in subzero weather. A separate blaze destroyed a Raymond Myers chicken house with 50 birds killed, started by heat lamps. A third call damaged a kitchen in Bernice Woodruff’s Albany residence. Fire officials could not determine a cause for the Woodruff fire. Degrees will be conferred at Athens Masonic Temple meetings this week with RAM and Paramathia Lodge visiting for specific Degree ceremonies.
