North Vietnamese jets miss two American fighters in Laos border clash

Saigon AP reported two Mig21s fired three missiles at two F4 Phantom fighter-bombers near the Laotian border within 100 miles of Hanoi but missed. U S warplanes conducted more than 250 strikes across Indochina as Viet Cong attacks rose in central coast areas. South Korean forces claim eight operations since Jan 3 with 266 enemy killed.

Soviet Ships Seized After Four Hour Chase in Bering Sea

A Soviet flagship Lamut and the trawler Kolyvan were seized by the U S Coast Guard near St Matthew Island after attempting to break away from the ice choked area. A warning shot was fired across the Lamut bow but no shots were fired. The vessels were taken toward Adak Alaska for custody with crews aboard and later reinforced by Coast Guard units.
