In Columbus a 22 year old Elmer L Webber is charged with second degree murder in the death of seven month old Richard Ricky Jerson Eskelson. Police say Webber admitted striking the child when it cried after his return home from a tavern. The infant died from internal bleeding due to a ruptured liver. Webber and his wife found the child dead while Webber was at work. The home also sheltered seven other children including the couple’s two. The child’s mother Mrs Helen Eskelson paid $12 weekly to board the infant at Webber’s home starting before Christmas.
