Washington officials disclosed today that inductions into the army were being stepped up to double or triple the peacetime rate. Indications showed the immediate goal was a hard hitting land force of four million men. The army accelerates the induction of present registrants, about one million already 1A, without waiting to draw from the nine million men aged 20 to 44 expected to register February 16.
