Ohio University students plead innocent in drug case linked to football players
Two of 300 students, Nathaniel Robinson and David Ryan, both 20, pleaded innocent in Athens County Court to conspiracy to trafficking in drugs and permitting drug abuse. A third defendant, Evan Kidder, also 20, had a continuance. The case involves a Dec. 7 robbery at University Commons by four individuals, including three suspended OU players. A $5,000 drug-money asset seizure is at issue. Children involved: Desmond Noel, Jacob Ready, Kyle Belack, Austin Allaby. Belack faces diversion hearing Jan. 13. The proceedings include pleas of guilty by Noel and Ready, and Allaby’s guilty plea to obstruction of justice. Drug activity and past purchases are alleged. See further details on page A2.
