Pomeroy council rescinds gas rate ordinance

In an adjourned meeting the Pomeroy village council suspended rules to rescind Ordinance No 162 affecting gas rates. The move cancels a plan to cut the average gas charge from 64.121 to about 47 cents per thousand, after counsel deemed the ordinance invalid to avoid costly legal defense. John W Schlaegel was elected to fill Wright McCrorie’s vacancy, shifting power to new members with Mayor Hess holding a deciding vote in ties.
