Taylor cites broad support for Viet Nam policy from Senate and South Vietnamese
General Maxwell Taylor says most Senate members and a majority of South Vietnamese back U S policy in Viet Nam. He criticizes public calls to change the August 1964 resolution and notes hearings did not shift Senate opinion. He claims private citizens support the effort and emphasizes limited yet flexible U S action. He discusses desertions, chemical use, UN role, and potential escalation with China. Taylor attended Ohio University events and received honorary U S Army membership in Athens.
