Tornadoes Strike East Side Rerouting Traffic and Injuries
A pair of tornadoes ripped through the East Side during rush hour injuring three people in fair condition and treating four others. Joan Thatcher, 58, of Columbus, suffered arm lacerations and a pelvic fracture when a tree trunk struck her car. Don Daniel and Michael McCray, both Columbus residents, were hit in the head by windborne missiles. The six mile long, up to one mile wide path caused debris detours, power line outages across North Mirth Street and Cassady Avenues, minor fires, and no major blazes. The storms followed a weather service warning for Franklin County.
