Worth Every Minute Running Sportsman restaurant since 1939
Opal Mathews of Athens says running a restaurant is a challenge yet rewarding. The Sportsman has moved, remodeled, and expanded to serve the Athens community and is currently undergoing further remodeling. Opal and her husband run it with a son married and a 14 year old daughter, hiring Ohio University students as workers shaping it into a training center.
