U P Winthrop W Aldrich president of Chase National Bank told the Senate Prosperity Clinic that the government should stop pouring credit into insolvent institutions and corporations. In Toledo on February 22 a piping accident at the Pure Oil Company plant caused a flare of boiling oil that killed Joseph Soldenwagner aged 2 and seriously burned foreman Norman Riehm, 28 of Genoa. The line failure sprayed oil on both men, and Riehm escaped by tumbling into a water puddle.
