Nelsonville Commissioner Joseph Wolf Hurt in Freight Yard Accident
Nelsonville February 14 Commissioner Joseph Wolf of Yorktown 9 three miles west of the city sustained serious injuries when struck by a box car on a Nes ville railway yard switch. Commissioner Hill narrowly escaped and assisted Wolf to safety. Wolf remains unconscious with vocal paralysis and partial body paralysis. he was taken to his daughter’s home for care and showed slight improvement later. Wolf, 67, a York township farmer and former New Floodwood supervisor, is serving his first term.

Lyon’s Arm Broken in Mine Road Assault
William Burnard 21 faced a hearing before Mayor Gin wande on a charge of assault and battery after striking Leing A Lyons 50 with a heavy club. The incident occurred near No 4 mine when Lyons tried to separate two fighting boys. Lyons suffered a broken arm with bones protruding. Burnard was bound over to court on the charge and released on bond.

Bushrod Hall Dead At 82 After Pneumonia
Bushrod Hall, a veteran producer of Athene townstap, died Tuesday afternoon at his home two miles west of Athens. He was 82. Funeral services were held at his late home conducted by Rev. A T Blacks. interment in the new cemetery. His wife died years ago. He leaves seven grown children. Among those attending the funeral were Dr. Stas Hall of western Indiana, Georgt Hall of Fostoria, and Mrs Spencer Young of Hamtey Ruz.

Double murder on Nelsonville train platform during riot
A fight at the Nelsonville depot left Nelsonville resident Ed McHaffey charged with killing James Lockhart a Buchtel man. Lockhart was shot in the head and heart after a scuffle with crowds awaiting trains for Buchtel and Athens. Sheriff Murphy and Marshal Warner arrested McHaffey as panic spread among two hundred spectators.

Funeral of Mrs Cranston Held in Denver Colorado
The funeral of Mrs. Cranston wife of Bishop Karl Cranston formerly of Cincinnati and known in Athens and nearby counties was held Sunday in Denver Colorado where she died last week. The service at Avondale M E Church began at 2 30 p m with simple rites. A quartet sang Safe in the Arms of Jesus and It Is Well With My Soul. Dr Rad er and Dr Fisher read scripture and Bishop John M Walden offered prayer. A memorial tribute by Bishop David H Maor followed. The body will go to Jacksonville Illinois for burial accompanied by Bishop Cranston and his children.

Miner Edward Rosser Killed by Slate Fall at No 2 Mine
Edward Rosser aged 25 was instantly killed by a slate and coal fall in No 2 mine at Lunrig near Solin's Mills. Several thousand pounds of material collapsed burying him. his neck and back were broken. He left a wife and three young children. The body was moved to his home and funeral arrangements not announced. Rosser and his family hailed from Vinton county, with possible interment there.

Bishop Moore Tells of China and Its Vast Empire
Bishop David L. Moore of China and Rev. Oldham of Chicago spoke at the Methodist church on a recent Wednesday about China Korea and Japan. He described China proper Manchuria Mongolia Turkistan Tibet and the five divisions with 360 million people and vast mineral resources under a unified government. The address urged commerce and religion together and highlighted the Yangtse and Yellow rivers and the Grand Canal. The crowded audience heard of China’s potential and the need to guard its unity against Russia.
