Plains Station Break-In Reported at The Plains Texaco
Pearl Conant of Conant's Texaco in The Plains told Athens County deputies that someone broke into the gas station office between Thursday afternoon and 5:45 a.m. Friday, smashing the front door window and stealing cash from the register and a desk box along with candy gum and cigarets. A similar break-in was reported west of Nelsonville on Route 33, and Dana Sheets of Amesville reported a chain saw theft Wednesday.

Two Ohio students charged in Downstairs drug store theft
Ohio University students John Royko and Gary Statler were arrested by Athens police for petty larceny and aiding and abetting petty larceny after allegedly trying to sell stolen items from Full's Drug Store on S Court Street. They posted $58 bond each and await Athens County Municipal Court.
