Ohio lawmakers consider emergency finance bills to fund old age pensions, school aid, and county tax administration. Proposals include state and county financing, bond refunds, extra levies, and shifting tax bill delivery to county auditors with a 1 percent penalty for late payments.
Brown 25 of Plymouth was found dead in a Tazewell county crematorium after a shooting that authorities say may have been accidental. Sheriff Under says the suspect admitted the shooting and claimed it was a misunderstanding with his sweetheart.
February action approved relief budgets totaling 2,902,657 dollars. The Ohio Relief Commission authorized expenditures for relief activities and related pendings.

In Kentucky near Elizabethtown a 17 year old girl Miss Gladys Ray and 20 year old Roy Wise plus 2 year old Chester Worth fell through ice on a pond while skating. Worth tried to help, but the ice gave way. Chester Worth, Roy Wise, and Miss Gladys Ray drowned, while a man attempted rescues and two others narrowly escaped. A nearby farmer pulled the survivors from the water.
Washington February 2 part time jobs funded by the Civil Works Administration will assist 100000 needy college bound youths in continuing studies during the second semester. Jobs include library and laboratory work with pay ranging from 10 to 20 dollars monthly.
In Columbus on February 2, an Ohio boy Gerald Claypool fourteen died after choking on candy brought by his father T. C. Claypool, a Youngstown CWA worker, who had saved his first pay check to visit the state institution inmate.

Mawhinney of Wilkinsburg Pennsylvania and Richard L. Glick of Canal Winchester Ohio were injured when their car left the road near The Plains Thursday night. They were treated by Dr. L. D. Nelson and brought to Athens by ambulance. Mawhinney is bruised and cut with possible ear drum damage and is confined to the Phi Delta Theta house. Glick sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Beta Theta Pi house.
The Public Utilities Commission ruled it has jurisdiction to order the abolition of wooden coaches on Ohio railroads. A hearing on the proposed order is set for February 28 to decide on banning wooden coaches.
