OU Airport One Year Old Faces Rough Road Access
After a year of operation and substantial expansion OU Gordon K. Bush Airport remains hard to reach by land. Located 10 miles west of Athens off Route 50, county roads are uneven and unpaved, prompting airport officials to call for a better road. The facility covers 700 acres, with hangars, fuel services, and a 4,200 foot runway. The Athens Aero Club and Flying Bobcats operate from the airport, offering member ownership options, hourly rates, and flight training linked to OU courses and degree programs.
