Mother Says She Left Them In The Plains Area

A 36 year old Marietta Route 6 mother Barbara McBride led patrols across Athens County as authorities search for her two missing children. A helicopter aided the air search from Columbus. She described the Plains Ridge area and said the babies may be alive. She attempted suicide after an encounter with police and was hospitalized.

Officer Slain After Missing Briefing Before Raid

Dayton Ohio police Lt James Buchanan skipped a briefing for a raid on a counterfeit operation to enter a shooting competition. He later won the match then traveled to a motel where the raid was to occur and was killed by a secret service agent in a gunfight who did not know he was an officer.
