A grand jury is convened to consider indictments against Leo Halterman aged 26 for multiple murders. The case involves serious violent offenses and potential prosecution in the county circuit court.
Leo Halterman 26 confessed to killing his half-brother Charles Halterman and Charles's wife after years of estrangement. He claimed a dispute over reconciliation led to the shootings near an outhouse and that he disposed of the gun in an old well. He also said his own wife and child lived elsewhere with him. The grand jury may be convened to consider indictments.

Columbus operators report weak demand pulls down coal prices to 1.75 to 2.00 for kit coal and 1.50 to 1.65 for hogging nut pea and slack. The softer market affects listed coal grades and trade activity in the region.
Two inmates Herbert Smith alias J A Williams 28 and James D Reedy 29 of Harrisburg Pa escaped a Columbus Ohio federal building late yesterday by inching 125 feet along an icy balustrade and descending three floors. Herbert Russell Harrington 56, president of the First National Bank of Logan, died at his mother Mrs. Frank Harrington’s home in Columbus after an eighteen month illness. Born in Logan, a Cornell graduate, he led the bank for thirty five years and served on the city school board. He leaves a widow, two daughters, a son, four brothers, and a sister. Funeral services to be conducted at Mrs. Harrington’s residence by Rev. A H Limouse.
