Athens school board member retires after many years of service

Scott Nisley after 16 years on the Athens School Board says it is time to move on and welcome new ideas. He cites retirement proximity and a desire for fresh involvement while noting his finance background aided district decisions. Rusty Rittenhouse will fill his seat in the new year.

Logan man in Athens County faces new felony charges

Timothy R. Windle, 37, already serving 23 years in Hocking and Athens County cases, was arraigned on four felony counts in Athens County for a Sept. 19 jail incident involving an inmate contraband the inmate allegedly smuggled in a body cavity. Co-conspirator Matthew Arno has pleaded guilty. Windle pleaded innocent and was ordered to have no contact with the victim as a pretrial hearing is set for Jan. 19. He remains incarcerated with an anticipated release date in 2041.

SHAPe Clinic keeps Marching 110 healthy on tour

Ohio University’s SHAPe Clinic provides performing arts medicine care for the Marching 110 and other arts students. Licensed athletic trainers travel with the band to events such as the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl in Montgomery and set up a mobile treatment clinic in the hotel.

Former Ohio lawmaker discusses life in and after prison

Hamilton native Michael Fox, once the longest serving Butler County lawmaker, reflects on his time in prison and home confinement. Indicted in 2009 over a fiber optics contract, he pled guilty in 2011 to wire fraud conspiracy and tax charges, receiving four years. He lost 100 pounds, then regained 40, and now serves three years of probation while writing a book on government and personal growth.

Cops seek deposition delay in Ohio Wal-Mart shooting case

In Beavercreek Ohio two officers who confronted John Crawford III with an air rifle at a Wal-Mart seek court permission to delay depositions in the civil suit while a federal criminal probe continues. Their lawyers say self incrimination worries force a choice between statements or invoking rights. Crawford was shot after a caller reported a man with a gun.
