Broken flange causes coal train wreck in Kanawha mile
A leafy north Honul coal train on the Kanawha & Michigan railway wrecked Thursday morning just below Tfisher station when a trestle collapsed as the train crossed. One third of the train plunged into the ravine piling five hundred tons of coal and debris. No injuries were reported. Conductor Harmon and Luigueer McGommack led the crew. Freight traffic halted. repairs completed by Friday noon. Estimated losses around 15000 dollars.

James Basom Dies Suddenly at Home in Carthage Township
James Basom died very suddenly Sunday evening at his home in Carthage township aged 1. He had been tending the farm and returned to the house where he sat before the fire. Family noticed an unnatural expression and tried to revive him but he expired quietly. Funeral services and interment were held Tuesday.

Sudden Death of William Thomas in Stewart
William Thomas aged about 72 died suddenly at his son Hiram Thomas's home near Stewart. His death followed injuries from a fall three months earlier and a subsequent illness. A well known farmer, he was born near Chesterhill Morgan County and later lived with his son. Surviving are Hiram Thomas, Floyd Thomas of Iowa, P. J. Thomas of Kansas, and Mrs. Charles Cornwell of Athens. Funeral services and burial were held in Chesterhill.

Drunken and Disorderly Charge In Police Court
Nell Louis, railroad worker from Nelsonville on the Hawk Valley line, was arrested Monday night in the opera house for drunkenness and disorderly conduct. He caused a disturbance in the balcony, was jailed until Tuesday morning, then brought before Mayor Logan and fined $5 plus costs totaling $29.10.
