Athens High School coach Fred Gibson led the Bulldogs to an 86-76 SECUL win over Ironton at home, the largest Athens scoring output in five years. Mark Wallace poured in 30 points, supported by Gary Bentley 17 and others. Ironton’s Dick James led with 26 as Ironton fell to 1-6.

Lynn Johnson led NY with 17 points, Colleen Pritchard had 10. The Buckeyes dropped their first league game as Alexander moved to 3-1 overall.
