Hamden M. Sgt. Linford R. Hill, son of Mrs. Bertha J. Chamberlain, Hamden, earned the U S Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service at Tan Son Nhut Air Base Vietnam. Hill, a Hamden High School graduate and Korean War veteran, is married to Margaret Denno of Napa California.
Point Pleasant plans a Student Recognition Sunday on January 1 at Trinity Methodist Church with university and college students sharing in the service.

Charles Kirkendall administrator estate of Faye Kirkendall transfers two acres in Clinton Two to Roy Kirkendall. Muriel Goere transfers forty acres in Richland to Floyd F Heil and Alice Z Heil. The text notes the okapi's rise from near unknown to common in zoos since 1900.
In Gallia County local residents report seeing a very large white owl with a 59 inch wingspan and two foot height after Ace Henry shot it at his home. Several witnesses from Point Pleasant and New Haven viewed the bird and some say such owls are rare in the area.
