David S. Smith a 20 year old OSU student charged with the first degree murder of Janice Porter 24 was sent to Lima State Hospital for a 30 day observation. He confessed to shooting Porter after a criminal assault and pleads innocent by reason of insanity. He has been examined privately and if found sane will be returned to Columbus for grand jury action.
A B 47 jet bomber crashed on land at Loring Air Force Base Limestone Maine Monday night. All four occupants walked away uninjured.

Goldfine, 67, and Paperman, 43, were sentenced to three months and 10 days respectively for withholding records from Lebanon Mills in Lebanon New Hampshire Northfield Vermont and Strathmore Woolen Co. of Boston.

Mrs. Elizabeth Duncan of Ventura denies ordering the murder of her daughter in law Olga Kupczyk Duncan claiming the accusation is a lie. Authorities say the 54 year old woman hired two men to kill Olga, a 30 year old Canadian nurse who married her son the Santa Barbara lawyer. Baldonado says Duncan offered $6000 to kill Olga and to use acid to ruin her dental work though the plan was not completed. Olga’s body was found in a shallow grave about 20 miles from Ventura.
Alabama Attorney General says the Virginia convict Calvin W Pruitt’s confession to the Albert Patterson 1954 Phenix City murder is a hoax. Pruitt, serving 170 years for murder robbery and burglary, claims he killed Patterson during a debt ridden robbery at Fort Benning, Georgia.
