Weather Device's Origin Found Near Here Sought
Two mysterious pieces of scientific equipment found near Sharpsburg and Utley were identified as Army weather observing material by Ohio University. Capt. Carl W. Wilson explained the radiosonde and gauges attach to a balloon to measure atmospheric data and transmit readings to the ground. The team said the device could be reused if not badly damaged and that the equipment may have been released near Wilmington, with balloons known to travel long distances.
