Legion Party At Athenspost Aims To Give Kids A Christmas Cheer
Members of the Athens American Legion post plan a Saturday party at the courthouse corner with Santa Claus expected to attend the community tree event. Legionnaires and auxiliary members gathered this week to fill about 800 sacks with candy nuts and oranges for distribution starting at 2 am.

Missing 15 year olds Joyce Cubbison and Rosey Taylor
Sheriff reports two Coolville girls aged 15 Joyce Cubbison and Rosey Taylor have not returned after leaving home Friday to attend the Troy Rome basketball game. Cubbison gave their description and said Kentucky authorities were contacted without results. Taylor had run away earlier this year but returned.

Athens County libraries set Christmas holiday closures
Athens County library system serving Athens Nelsonville Glouster and Chauncey will close Saturday and not open. They will operate Friday December 28 from 1 to 9 PM and Saturday until 6 PM before resuming normal hours January 2. The bookmobile is off the road the week of December 24 and returns January 3.
