Police reported thefts during a Christmas shopping period in Wellston. Ray's Appliance Store on Second Street was burglarized with appliances valued at 2420 dollars stolen. Missing include four large stereo speakers five Sylvania color televisions and one Sylvania black and white set. Entry at Wellston High School occurred through roof vents and football equipment was taken but later found along the railroad tracks.

Breaking and entering report from Union Furnace area
Hocking County Sheriff's Department investigated a break in at Donnie Hayburn's Union Furnace residence between 5 and 9 p.m. on Thursday. A grandfather clock a rifle and a shotgun valued at 260 dollars were stolen. The case remains under investigation.
