County bonds strain 1941 budget and delinquent taxes
The 1939 county general fund shows a $45,000 deficit, rising to about $20,000. Bonds of $98,000 issued against delinquent taxes fund direct relief and prior debts, with $228,000 in delinquent taxes on the books. In 1941 and beyond, the county share of delinquent taxes will retire the bonds, requiring possible use of current tax collections. A county committee met to review costs, mandatory appropriations, and tax collection efforts.
