Athens Junior Music Club Christmas Recital Highlights
In Recital Hall the Athens Junior Music Club presented Christmas music with piano solos by Joy and Kathy Harberson and Sandra McKibben, a violin solo by Eric Jennings, and performances by First United Methodist Church elementary and junior choirs under Mrs. Sarah Spofforth. A violin ensemble included Sam Spofforth, Mary Seelhorst, Susan Klock and Barbara Russell. Carols were accompanied by Tammy Frum, Greta Conover, Linnea Johannsson, Nancy Klock and Laura Crabtree. Mrs. Barry Thomas chaired the program. Mrs. Richard Selleck is club counselor. Athens Emblem Club met at the Elks Club and planned to fund a needy family’s Christmas, with canned goods from each member to the December 15 gathering featuring a Christmas program and $1 gift exchange. Alpha Tau Chapter of Sigma Phi Gamma met in November to fill Christmas stockings for men at Lockbourne Air Base, and held a pledging service for Miss Judy Mahler at the president’s home, Mrs. Sally Jagers. Prizes awarded to Mrs. Peggy Jagers and Mrs. Betty Poston.
