President Coolidge urged Congress to create a Federal board with a revolving fund to help farm marketing and promote cooperative movements. He endorsed limited flood control on the Lower Mississippi and said the government should not bear all costs. He favored naval expansion, debt reduction, and continued economic restraint.

Harry McLaughlin president of the Cleveland federation of Labor urged a funds drive for destitute strike miners in Ohio. He addressed about 0,000 members of 125 unions in Cleveland and called for wider help from others willing to contribute.
Norfolk reporters heard Radio Operator A. D. Warnick describe the peril aboard the Greek steamer Paraguay. He said they spent 24 hours in hell and did not know when four of their men were washed overboard. Survivors arrived with the group.
A bipartisan leadership pact formed in Oklahoma's special session as Democrats and Republicans join to investigate and impeach Governor Henry Johnston. The state supreme court voids any acts by the session and the governor refuses to issue a call for its meeting. Only 18 members attended the opening organization.
Funeral services for Charles DeMolet former Athens resident will be held at St. Pauls Catholic church on College Street shortly after his body arrives from Lynn Haven Florida via B and O railroad on Wednesday at 1 27 PM. The widow four sons and two daughters accompany the body with another daughter arriving from Columbus. Lodge members Elks and Knights of Columbus will attend and pallbearers will be provided by the Elks.
Newton III O S Newton general manager of the Sunday Creek Coal company is critically ill at White Cross hospital in Columbus. Doctors held a consultation after influenza is cited as a contributing cause to his condition. he had been ill for months and recently underwent appendicitis surgery.
The new tax bill introduced by the ways and means committee promises $235,000,000 in corporate relief and at least $300,000,000 in overall tax reductions as it moves through the House. Automobile and theater taxes are cut or repealed, with public admissions tax yielding $8,000,000 in savings, while other provisions lower club dues taxes and transfer taxes. The measure includes administrative changes to curb evasion and simplify income taxes.

O. B. Sloane of Athens died at Sheltering Arms hospital at 3:15 am after six weeks with cancer. A businessman and civic leader born March 14 1848 in Pennsylvania he built a large Athens store and owned farms and properties including the Sloane Block. Funeral service will be held at the Presbyterian church with Rev A Y Wilcox in charge. Burial in Union Street cemetery. He leaves a daughter Mrs Bowden and a brother Albert Sloane. a sister died last year.
George Remus challenged court authority shouting that he would not be quiet. Judge Chester R Shook ordered him to sit, warned of contempt, then retraced ruling after defense objections. Remus calmed as the judge apologized and jurors were told to disregard the threat.
Case heard in Athens County Common Pleas with Nelsonville Coal and Land Co. as plaintiff against T. R. Biddle and L. D. Poston administrators of Clinton Poston estate and Grace Biddle, LL D Poston and Delia Poston. The state of Ohio filed suit on complaint of Mable Marie Mason against Shepard yesterday.

Reynolds 32, garage proprietor near Springdale, was shot and killed after a car crash and dispute at Schneck's Crossing near Hamilton's southern boundary. Willis Mullins, an eyewitness, was arrested shortly after the shooting. Reynolds' assailant fled.
