Athens Photographic Project Gains Its Own Space
Athens Photographic Project has purchased a building at 434 W. Union St to serve as classrooms offices and archive storage. Executive Director Nate Thomson says the space will enable growth with 55 current participants and a January start for classes, renovations planned to finish by December 2016 and ongoing exhibitions in the community.

Free Parkinson disease exercise class run by Ohio students
Ohio University physical therapy students offer a free Parkinsons exercise class in Grover Center from 3 to 4 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Started in 2013 by Brooke Vaughan and expanded with The Athens Foundation grant, the program provides exercises to reduce symptoms, improve balance and strength, and offers social support while benefiting students with real world clinical exposure.

Athens apartments sold for seniors and disabled residents
Two subsidized housing buildings in Athens were sold for just over 3.1 million. Beasley Mill Apartments at 93 W Union St and Sheltering Arms Apartments at 19 Clark St are now owned by New Beasley Mill LLC and New Sheltering Arms LLC, with Fairfield Homes of Lancaster as managing member. James Gribben Jr. signed the deeds as seller. Sheltering Arms has 25 units in the former Sheltering Arms Hospital building, converted in 1982. Beasley Mill has 37 units and was converted in 1983. Both sites are on the National Register of Historic Places.
