Nelsonville Wrecks Injure 11 Persons
Eleven people were injured in two accidents Saturday night in Nelsonville. A three car collision on Route 78 near Bob and Bettys Tavern wounded seven, including Karen Grandy and Sandra Mitchell. A second crash on Chestnut Street injured four, with Tim Berry among those taken to Mount St Mary Hospital.

Two Hurt and One Held After Hamden Domestic Dispute
In Vinton County a 32 year old man Danny Davis was jailed after a domestic dispute at a Hamden area home. His wife Violet Davis and friend Allen E Lambert were hospitalized in fair condition with injuries from a corn knife incident. Davis faced felonious assault charges. Firefighters later investigated a smoke incident at Highlander Laundry in Logan.

Launderette Fire Call Declares Disconnected Washer

Blaze Destroys Home on Route 550 Near Athens
A fire destroyed the Joseph Ghezzi home two miles east of Athens on Route 550. No occupants were inside. Damage estimated up to 40000 dollars. Fire units from Chauncey Dover and The Plains responded after neighbors reported an explosion from a 500 gallon fuel tank outside the house. A second explosion is under investigation. The blaze was extinguished within two hours.

Collision Kills Two Men Near Point Pleasant
Two men died in a head on crash on Route 2 about a half mile north of the Mason Cabell line. John W. Riffe Jr. 46 of Chillicothe and Richard Wendell 25 of Glenwood were killed. Both died on arrival at Pleasant Valley Hospital. Riffe was southbound and Wendell northbound with no passengers. Investigation continues.
