Ted Ramirez a 44 year old man confined to a wheelchair wheeled eight miles to Ben Taub Hospital with his eight month old son on his lap to seek treatment for the infant's ear infection. He said the trip took four hours aided by an 8 year old to steady the chair and an unidentified woman who gave him a ride for the final five blocks. He had only 30 cents and bought a Coke to share. He receives welfare and disability payments for a family of ten.
