Priorities System Set On Street Jobs In Athens
Service Safety Director Dwight Robinson says a new system of priorities under the TOPICS program guides Athens street improvements. The group including Mayor-Elect Barrett and safety director designate Goldsberry met with Deputy Director Max Farley to select projects, aiming to have traffic signals under construction by July 1972. The plan includes signal synchronization on Richland Avenue and S Court and S Congress, with five percent local funding and 95 percent state and federal funds. Other top priorities include widening Richland Avenue sections, a pedestrian overpass to the recreation complex, and light synchronization on College Street. No start dates beyond the first traffic-light project are set.
