Last Day to File for Mason County Soil Board Seats
Sept 3 is the filing deadline for Mason County residents to run for election supervisor on the Western Soil Conservation District. Petitions must be signed by 25 landowners and filed with the State Soil Conservation District office in Charleston or Mason County offices by Sept 2. Two supervisors will be elected Oct 3 for three years. current members are Drew Hatfield Henry White and Edward Bumgarner with candidates Edward Bumgardner and Jess Brown.

Huntington District Methodist Youth Fellowship held a two day planning retreat at As bury Woods camp. Representing Point Pleasant Circuit were Kathy Blain and Michael Day with MYF groups from Huntington Logan and Point Pleasant sub districts. A 150 youth rally followed worship by Rev Robert Wilson and district leaders guided the program for the year.

WVU Prepares For State Vo Ag Judging Contests
WVU plans the 39th annual state Vo Ag judging contests on September 27 28 29 with participation from 304 students from 38 high schools last year. A record hop follows at Point Pleasant High School gym hosted by the candy stripers with John Purdy of WJEH spinning records 8 to 11 p m admission 35 cents for singles 50 cents for couples.
