She reports interest in a combined auto and airplane, low prices, self landing devices, parachute protection, and other refinements. Her findings support lower cost aviation to win back pilots who left the field.
Fire of unknown origin was discovered about 1 80 o'clock Sunday morning in Carl Duckworths pool room in Syracuse. The Pomeroy Fire Department was called and the blaze was brought under control before much damage was done.
Robert P. Tompkins filed a recount request at the Board of Elections after losing the Republican nomination by 98 votes. Recount seeks ballots from ten precincts including nine Nelsonville precincts and Glouster’s first. Tompkins posted 100 dollars as required. Columbus Aug 27 Martin L Devey Democratic nominee for governor reported to secretary of state that he spent 1167 43 in his successful campaign This was the smallest expense among the three principal Democratic gubernatorial candidates Devey listed contributions of 631 most under 100 with three donations larger than that amount
In Tampa Florida Ramon Perez a 34 year old cigar maker died after sitting nude in a hornets nest for hours. He first tried to drown himself in the Hillsborough River but failed then moved to a ravine where he remained among the insects until found by his mother and firefighters. Perez refused treatment saying he wished to die. He died from the hornet stings.
Vigilantes keeping watch near Scioto marshes pledged to retaliate for future strike violence as a union delegation heads to Toledo to press federal court action over the kidnapping and beating of leader Okey Odell. Odell remains defiant and says he will seek federal charges, while talks with labor officials open with Odell willing to accept 25 cents an hour for eight hours, down from the union's 35-cent demand.

Two youths were arrested and a third hunted for stealing a car owned by D B Lowery postmaster at Carbondale. The vehicle was taken from East Union Street in Athens Saturday night and found stripped near Elliotville on Sunday. Suspects Harry Six 19 of Carbondale and Harvey Six 22 of near The Plains face theft charges while battery and other parts were missing. Sheriff Stratton deputies and Roland Ruth pursued leads through Sunday.

Okey Odell president of the Agricultural Workers Union and leader of the onion marsh weeders strike at McGuffey Ohio was abducted and beaten by non strikers on Saturday. He returned from captivity and sat on his porch with a revolver daring the non union group to get him.
U S farmers will receive more than a billion dollars through the AAA by year end 1935 with payments totaling 779 402 000 for cotton tobacco wheat and corn hog programs plus cattle and sheep adjustments. Southeastern Ohio counties list payments to Athens Gallia Hocking Meigs Perry Vinton and Washington. Cotton led with 152 510 793 while wheat and corn hogs followed.

Henry Robey aged 76 former Hocking County recorder died at his Logan home after months of illness. Funeral services are set for Tuesday at 2 30 PM at the United Brethren Church with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. He served two terms as recorder and three years as courthouse custodian. He is survived by his wife, three daughters Mrs Hutchinson Mrs McNallen and Mrs Florence Myers all of Logan, a son Noah, two brothers Noah of Carbon Hill and William of Logan, and a sister Mrs Charles Dresher of Nelsonville.
The Eighth Fourth Annual Ohio State Fair opened in Columbus with predicted sunny weather and warm scores of visitors. Officials conducted the official inspection and Columbus Day festivities featured, while children under 16 received free admission. A harness racing program is scheduled each afternoon for five days.
