New Orleans August 27 A U P communication restored to isolated Gulf coast towns shows a heavier loss than expected. Thirteen Barataria fishermen are missing with boats. property damage nears four million dollars and sixty percent of crops damaged across a 100 mile inland zone.
Missouri coal miners form the Interstate Brotherhood of Miners to oppose age limits and high officer salaries, seek referendum on union laws, and press for independent wage and contract actions with operators west of the Mississippi amid idle mines and nationwide wage constraints. Roach plans a full brief of evidence. More than thirty witnesses will be called. Roach believes there is enough evidence to indict several men for murder. Former Judge H C Pontius testified to the Canton Daily News, detailing the reform campaign of Mellett, who was assassinated.
Homer Petty, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Petty of Church street Logan, nearly suffered fatal injuries Tuesday while working on an Ohio Power line at Mt. Vernon. A high tension wire sent 2200 volts through his body when his shoulder touched the conductor, leaving burns on his shoulder and legs. He was rescued by two linemen, taken to Cherrington hospital in Logan, and expected to miss about two months of work.
John Mazza, 45, fired about fifty shots at a Chicago railroad depot killing Louis Kigazas and wounding Joseph Edwards and W. K. Miller. Mazza was shot dead by a World War veteran. Van Reeves was wounded but expected to survive.
Alva Forbes, 88, died at Sheltering Arms hospital at 9:40 last night from injuries after a horse he was showing at the county fair reared and struck him in the head. No funeral arrangements have been made.

Betty Paskzos 16 and her cousin Mary Paskzos 14 started a blaze in their Chicago apartment to steal finery described as silk stockings and pretty pink things. Neighbors watched as the fire broke out in the dwelling they shared.
In Clymer Pennsylvania a mine explosion at Clearfield Bituminous Coal No 1 killed forty four men with fourteen more bodies found. In Columbus Aug 27 two inmates Thomas Ge rak of Cleveland and Frank Proctor of Cincinnati were found in solitary after guards noticed a blanket hung in the prison chapel. Two bars were nearly severed during their attempt to escape. They had been among 20 prisoners renovating the chapel.
Clayton Van Doran of Wast Omaha Iowa is in custody charged with first degree murder of his wife Elsie. He allegedly confessed to killing her during an argument that began when she refused to awaken him.
In Somerville New Jersey special prosecutor Alexander Simpson says the Hall Mills murder case will be presented to a grand jury in three weeks. Mrs Frances Stevens Hall and Henry Carpender remain jailed without bail while the defense expresses concern over the holding. Carpenter and Stevens stay at the county jail. Mrs Hall remains at home under $15000 bail as Justice Parker plans a return from vacation.
Frank Jonas, 57, of Glouster, narrowly escaped serious injury at Ohio Mine No. 1 Thursday morning. Riding a mine car, he fell when the brake failed, was pushed several feet, injuring his back knee and nose. A mine physician found no serious injury, but he will be disabled for several days and was brought home by ambulance.
Police impose a midnight curfew on unescorted girls under 18 after a demand from 45,000 club women. Girls seen after midnight are taken to stations and parents are notified to retrieve them.
One of the last acts of Charles Voegele grand commander of the Knights Templars of Ohio was to sign a dispensation allowing Logan Commandery Knights Templars to escort the grand master of Ohio Masonry to New Staaltsville on Labor Day.
